Special Education
Student privacy is an important issue, to that end, NYSED recently proposed changes to increase information security measures to safeguard the Personally Identifiable Information (PII) of students and certain school personnel.
Some of the items addressed are: data collection transparency and restrictions, a parent’s bill of rights, training for educational agency employees, restrictions for third party contractors, and ways for parents’ to file a complaint. A 60-day public comment period is open through March 31.
